The Process
How It Works
From application to active policy in as little as 48 hours.
SmartEO is a digital E&O insurance platform built for licensed insurance producers in Missouri and Kansas. We handle the application, placement, and renewal of your errors & omissions coverage so you can spend less time on paperwork and more time on your book.
Submit your information
Complete our online application. We ask for your name, contact information, NPN, primary license state, current E&O carrier (if any), and standard underwriting questions about your agency and claims history. Most applicants finish in under 10 minutes. No phone call required to get started.
Review your quote
Once we have your information, we route it to the carrier or carriers whose appetite matches your agency profile. You'll receive a written quote showing the carrier name, coverage limits, deductible, premium, payment options available from that carrier, and key policy terms in plain language. Quotes are subject to underwriting review and verification of your license.
Bind your policy
If you accept the quote, you complete the digital binding process and pay the premium. Coverage starts on the effective date shown on your policy documents, not on the date you submit your application. Your certificate of insurance is available for download from your account portal once the policy is issued.
Renewal protection
E&O lapses can affect your carrier appointments and expose you to uncovered claims for work performed during the gap. We monitor your policy expiration and send renewal alerts approximately 60 days in advance. Your prior-year information is pre-populated in the renewal application — review changes, approve, and your replacement coverage is placed before your current policy expires.
Renewal is not automatic in the legal sense: you must review and approve the renewal quote each year. Pre-population reduces friction; it is not a binding commitment to renew on prior terms.
What Do You Need to Apply for E&O Insurance?
- Your active resident insurance license (Missouri or Kansas).
- Your National Producer Number (NPN).
- Basic agency information: lines of business, years in operation, estimated annual commissions or premium volume.
- Claims history for the past 5 years (most carriers require this).
- Your current E&O declarations page, if you have existing coverage.
What Are the Key Terms and Limitations of E&O Coverage?
- SmartEO is a brand of Beacon Point Insurance, a licensed independent insurance producer. We are not an insurance carrier. Coverage is issued by licensed insurance carriers.
- Submitting an application does not create coverage. Coverage exists only when a carrier issues a policy and any required premium has been paid.
- Most agency E&O is written on a claims-made basis. Policy specifics — including limits, deductibles, prior acts coverage, and payment options — are set by the carrier and shown on your quote.
- E&O products offered through SmartEO are not available in all states.
